もうすぐやってくるニューヨークの寒さ。ホームレスの人たちに手をさしのべる活動をしているBRCを知ろうと思います。

”The Way Home"からは、「帰る家がありますよ。」というメッセージが伝わります。

この動画は、スクリプトが出ますが、字幕はありません。でも、このスクリプトが端的に動画内容を表しています。スクリプトはすぐに消えてしまうので、次に書き写しました。（すべて小文字から始まっています。）

人々が失った生活を再建するのを手伝います。具体的には、健康と自力でやっていく機会を提供することで希望と尊厳を取り戻します。

BRCのホームページによりますと、
BRCのCEOであり、PresidentであるMuzzy Rosenblatt氏は、この10月9日に"City & State"によって、”Non Profit Power 50"に選ばれました。
he is one of the "key players in the world of New York politics and government".と認められたということです。（ニューヨークの政治と行政において中心となる活躍をした人）

BRCのページにちりばめられているのMuzzy Rosenblat氏の信念を表す言葉を次に拾ってみました。

“What distinguishes BRC is not what we do, but how we do it.”

「BRCが優れているのは、何をやっているかと言うことではなく、どのようにやっているか、ということです。」

".....offering a hand up, not a hand out."

「印刷物（ハンドアウト）を渡すのではなく、這い上がる手伝い（ハンドアップ）をするのです。」

“We don’t believe poor people should be shunted to the edges” 

「我々は貧しい人が外へ外へと追いやられてはいけないのだと思っています。」

今この瞬間も、New Yorkのどこかで、ホームレスの人に声をかけ、手をさしのべている人がいるのだということを忘れないでいたいと思います。。。
