アーネスト・ミランダ、その後の人生は・・・・。

前回でも、Earnest Miranda （アーネスト・ミランダ）のその後の人生について触れられていましたが、もう少し詳しいものがありましたので、載せます。

Life after Miranda v. Arizona　　「ミランダ対アリゾナ州」後の彼の人生

The Supreme Court set aside Miranda's conviction, which was tainted by the use of the confession that had been obtained through improper interrogation. The state of Arizona retried him. At the second trial, his confession was not introduced into evidence, but he was convicted again, based on testimony given by his estranged common law wife. He was sentenced to 20 to 30 years in prison.

最高裁はミランダの有罪判決を無効にしたのですが、不適切な尋問によって得られた自白は役にたたないのだということを思い知らせました。アリゾナ州は彼から手を引いたのです。最新で、かれの自白は証拠として採用されませんでしたが、かれは再び有罪となります。それは、疎遠だった内縁の妻による証言が元になりました。彼は20年から30年の収監の判決を受けたのです。

Miranda was paroled in 1972. After his release, he started selling autographed Miranda warning cards for $1.50. Over the next few years, Miranda was arrested numerous times for minor driving offenses and eventually lost his license. He was arrested for the possession of a gun but the charges were dropped. However, because this violated his parole, he was sent back to Arizona State Prison for another year.

ミランダは、1072年に仮釈放になりました。保釈された後、彼は1ドル50セントでミランダ告知をサイン入りで売り始めました。その後数年に渡ってミランダは軽い交通違反で数知れないほど逮捕され、結果として車の免許を失いました。銃の所持で逮捕されましたが起訴されませんでした。しかし、仮釈放条件に違反していたのでアリゾナ州の拘置所に実刑より１年多く収監されました。

On January 31, 1976, after his release for violating his parole, a violent fight broke out in a bar in Phoenix. Miranda received a lethal wound from a knife, and he was pronounced dead on arrival at Good Samaritan Hospital. Several Miranda cards were found on his person. Miranda was buried in the City of Mesa Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.

1976年１月31日、仮釈放違反を解かれた後、フェニックスのバーで大げんかになり、ミランダはナイフで致命的な傷を負いました。そしてグッドさマリタン病院に付いてすぐ死亡したと告げられました。遺体から何枚かのミランダカードが見つかりました。ミランダの遺体はアリゾナ州メッサの墓地に埋葬されました。
