ニューヨーク市のネズミ問題はこれで解決するか？新しいルールとは？

コロナパンデミックからの回復で、ニューヨーク市の歩道には、残骸とも言えるレストランの屋台設備が今も多く残されています。そのまま使い続けられているものもありますが、もはや廃棄物同然になっているものも。

そこがネズミの住処になっていたり、現在営業中のところでは、ネズミの数が増えたという苦情に頭を痛めています。

市の対応のひとつとして、ゴミ収集のルール変更について読んでみます。

Mayor Adams and Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch contend that, in five-and-a-half months, when the city’s new rules on placing garbage bags on the sidewalk begin, less time for trash on the curb will mean less time for rats to feast, finally reducing rodent sightings that are now chewing through the roof. We hope they’re right.
