ケン・ニイムラは昨日のブログで書きましたが、日本人の父を持つ、漫画家です。彼の"I Kill Giants"は、2012年に外務省の主催する第5回国際漫画賞で最優秀賞を受賞
しています。映画化もされました。
今日のブログでは、彼の"Umami"という作品をとりあげます。

At the crossroad of Japanese, European and American comics, Ken Niimura has developed a dynamic, vibrant and humorous style of his own.
His breakthrough in the industry came with the publication of the acclaimed graphic novel, “I Kill Giants,” earning co-creators illustrator Niimura and writer Joe Kelly nominations for the prestigious Eisner Award and winning the International Manga Award in 2012. “I Kill Giants” is now a soon-to-be released feature film.
Niimura is also the author of the short story collection “Henshin,” published originally in Japan by Shogakukan.
日本とヨーロッパ、そしてアメリカのコミックスの交差点で、ケン・ニイムラはダイナミックで、生き生きとしていて、ユーモアのアル彼独自の世界を繰り広げている。
この業界で、ブレイクした彼はグラフィックノベルである"アイ・キル・ジャイアンツ（邦題：バーバラと心の巨人）を出版し、高い評価を得た。そして、イラストレーター、ニイムラと作家である、ジョー・ケリーは有名なアイズナー賞にノミネートされ、2012年の国際漫画賞を受賞した。「アイ・キル・ジャイアンツ」はまもなく長編映画として公開される。
ニイムラは、また「ヘンシン（変身）」という短編の作家でもあり、日本で小学館から出版されている。

"Umami"は、デジタル配信限定コミックです。本文では、ノミネートと書かれていた、漫画のアカデミー賞とも言われる、アイズナー賞のベスト・デジタル・コミック部門で受賞しまし た！おめでとうございます！！

日本人が発見した、第５の味覚、「うま味」をタイトルにして、「ウマ」と「アミ」のコンビを創り出したなんて、やはり日本人のDNAを持った人じゃないとできないと思います。現在５巻まで出ています。
