昔は、不要になった薬はトイレに流してくださいと言われていました。技術の向上や研究にも関わらず、低濃度の薬剤がニューヨークの水域で検出されています。
流された薬がニューヨークの湖や大小の河川で見つかっています。
魚や他の水中生物は、低い濃度の薬でも長期間それにさらされると行動や体が変化します。薬に耐性のあるバクテリアが現れてきます。
浄水場のフィルターは全ての薬を取り除けない場合があるのです。

Class 3A and other Long-Term Care Facilities should review NYS Department of Health (DOH) guidelines, which include safe disposal regulations and methods.

Requirements for Pharmacies and Providers
Pharmacies and other retailers that sell drugs, including veterinary offices, must conspicuously display DEA's "Proper Disposal of Pharmaceuticals notice as required under NYS Law.
