ニューヨークの公立の音楽学校へ高校から入学するには？

ニューヨークの、スペシャル・ミュージック・スクールは幼稚園から高校までの一貫校ですが、途中入学ができます。小学２年生からはオーディションがあります。

今日は、高校に入学するためのオーディションについて読んでみました。

Special Music School High School develops students who have the skills, competencies and knowledge necessary for 21st century music careers. They can analyze, compose and perform music at the highest level; have a strong sense of his/her own artistic “voice,” and are fluent in current music technologies.

音楽専門学校高等部は、21世紀の音楽キャリアに必要なスキル、能力、知識を持った生徒を育成します。ここの生徒たちは、最高レベルの音楽を分析、作曲、演奏することができます。つまり、彼らは芸術的な「ヴォイス」に関する強い感覚を持っており、現代の音楽技術に精通しているということです。

Students work in one of the three concentrations: Vocal, Composition and Instrumental. Comprehensive, conservatory-level core classes and ensembles update the traditional model of classical music education preparing Special Music School students for careers as musicians today.

生徒たちは、声楽、作曲、器楽の専攻のうちのどれかに進みます。全般的な音楽学校レベルの基礎クラスと、アンサンブルクラスでは、従来の音楽教育モデルを現代に合うものにします。これは、スペシャル・ミュージック・スクールの生徒たちが今日の音楽家としてのキャリアを積めるようにする準備です。

Students also participate in Large and Small Ensemble rehearsals three afternoons a week, with large ensembles rehearsing on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

生徒たちは午後に週3日ずつ、全体、およびパート別の練習をします。全体練習は月曜日、火曜日、木曜日です。

Please send us an email at hsadmissions@specialmusicschool.org that includes the full name of the student, the grade they will be entering in the fall, and their chosen area of musical study (instrument, voice or composition). We’ll reply with confirmation and more information.

氏名、秋に入学予定の学年、希望する音楽分野（楽器、声楽、作曲）を明記の上、メール（文中のアドレス宛）をお送りください。受領確認メールと詳細情報を返信いたします。

注・まず、高校入学を希望するための登録から始めることになりますが、公立高校なので、日本からの入学申し込みはできません。

Special Music School High School’s music program is rooted in the classical tradition, its performance and its composition. Students wishing to audition may sign up to audition in the three Concentrations that organize the students:

特別音楽学校高等部の音楽プログラムは、クラシックの伝統、その演奏と作曲に根ざしています。オーディションを希望する生徒は、生徒を区分する次の3つの専攻部門に申し込むことができます。

Vocal Concentration – for singers
Composition Concentration – for those interested in composing
Instrumental Concentration – for those that play an instrument.

声楽専攻コース - 歌手向け
作曲専攻コース - 作曲に興味のある方向け
器楽専攻コース - 楽器を演奏する方のためのコースです。

本校には次の学期のプログラムがあります。

We ask all students to prepare one or two pieces that best reflect their current playing ability.

現在の演奏能力を最もよく反映する曲を1～2曲準備してください。

For those students interested in the Music Composition concentration, please submit a PDF of your written musical score (either handwritten or printed from music notation software) as well as a midi or live recording of your piece, if possible. Please email the score and, if it is available, your recording, to Andrew Copper, Special Music School High School Dean of Music: andrew@specialmusicschool.org.

作曲専攻を希望する生徒は、楽譜（手書きまたは楽譜作成ソフトから印刷したもの）の PDF と、可能であれば作品のMIDI（デジタルデータ）またはライブ録音を提出してください。楽譜と、もし可能であれば録音したものを、スペシャル・ミュージック・スクール学部長のアンドリュー・コッパー（Andrew Copper）宛にEメールでお送りください。

（注・家族でニューヨークに移住しない限り、日本からの願書提出は受け付けられません。）
