最も混雑している観光地のトップ３をタイが占めているなんてね！

というわけで、今日は昨日と反対に、最も観光客の混雑度が低かった都市のランキングを見ます。

Least Over-Touristed Cities
最も観光客が来なかった都市

At the other end of the scale, the following cities still rank within the top 100 cities for international arrivals per year, but have a population size to match - meaning those living within the country aren’t out-numbered and are therefore less likely to become frustrated with tourists!

一方、以下の都市は、以前として年間外国人旅行者数の上位100都市にランクインしていますが、人口もそれなりに多い都市です。つまりその国に住んでいる人たちのほうが、外国からやって来る観光客の数より少ないということはないのです。ですから観光客のためにイライラするようになることが少ないのです。

いったいどうやってランキングを決定したのでしょう？
その手法を読んでみます。

Methodology
方法論

We sourced the data on international arrivals from a Euromonitor International study and all population data and figures for most visited countries from World Population Review. These data sets were then used to calculate the estimated number of tourists per inhabitant for each city and country.

国際線到着者数はユーロモニター・インターナショナルの調査から、人口データと訪問者数が最も多かった国の訪問者数はWorld Population Reviewから入手しました。そして、これらのデータを使って、各都市と国の住民一人当たりの推定観光客数を算出しました。

今回のMoney Transferによるランキングは「都市」についてのものでしたが、最後に「国」について、次のように言及しています。

Most Over-Touristed Countries in the World
Despite cities in Thailand taking up the top three spots for most over touristed cities in the world, the country is actually relatively low in the ranking of countries most visited.

世界で最も観光客で混雑している国
世界で最も観光客で混雑している都市のトップ3をタイの都市が占めているにもかかわらず、実はタイは最も観光客で混雑している国のランキングでは比較的下位に位置しています。

Instead, Austria takes the top spot in this regard, with an average of 3.6 international visitors per inhabitant (with 31.9 million annual visitors and a population of 8.9 million). Next up are Hong Kong, which has an estimated 3.8 tourists per inhabitant, and Greece, with an estimated 3 tourists per inhabitant.

（世界で最も観光客で混雑している国は、タイではなくて）オーストリアがトップで、国民1人当たりの外国人訪問者数は平均3.6人（年間訪問者数3190万人、人口890万人）です。次いで、住民1人当たりの観光客数が推定3.8人の香港、住民1人当たりの観光客数が推定3人のギリシャです。

統計の取り方でランキングはかなり違ってきますね。
しかし、観光客の混雑度ではやはり「国」より、「都市」のランキングのほうが興味深いと思いました。
