日本の生徒にも書かせてみたい！ディベートでとりあげたい課題！

AIによる「生成された文」と「自分で書く文」について、昨日のブログで取り上げた記事に対するコメントが数多く寄せられました。

今日はその一部をご紹介します。（読みやすいように改行してあります。）

I use writing in school and outside of school. I use writing in school for academic reasons, for example writing this opinion. Outside of school, I am in a club called Uptown Stories. There we write fictional stories over ten weeks and then present them to parents. I have never liked the thought of using AI to write for me.

私は学校でも学校外でも文章を書きます。学校で書くのは学習に関した文章です。例えば、この意見のように。学習以外では、アップタウンストーリーズというクラブに入って書いています。そこでは10週間かけて架空の物語を書き、保護者に読んでもらいます。それをAIに代筆してもらうことは、絶対したくありません。

I have always loved writing and I find that fact beneficial to me. It is beneficial because I improve my writing because I write so often. All of my teachers have seen good changes in my writing. I have noticed that I enjoy writing academically much more because of this program.

もともと文章を書くことは好きでしたし、そのことは私にとってためになると思っています。私はしょっちゅう書いているので書く技術が上達し、自分にとってためになっていると思います。先生方は皆、私の文章が良くなってきたと言ってくださいます。このクラブのおかげで、アカデミックな文章を書くのが楽しくなりました。

When you use AI you do not benefit except for the fact that you have more time. You do not improve in any way shape or form. When you write yourself you benefit because you get feedback and you learn what you can do differently.

AIを使うと、時間の節約ができたという事実以外には何のメリットもありません。どんな形であれ、上達することはありません。自分で書くと、読み手の反応が得られるし、どうすれば良くなるのか学べるのが良い点です。

😀 自分の書いたものを褒められると嬉しいですね。いくら良い文章だと言われても、AIが書いたということを自覚していれば、ワクワクしないでしょう。
人間は、何を書いたかより、どう書くかというプロセスを楽しむことができます。

One of the most controversial modern questions is whether it still matters to be a good writer in the age of A.I. Being a good writer does matter in the age of AI, but the meaning of a good writer has changed. A.I. is meant to help people, not do everything for them. Whenever I ask an AI to write an essay, it always comes out robotic and impersonal, not to mention inaccurate.

A.I.の時代においても、優れた書き手であることが重要なのかどうかというのが、現代における最も議論の的となっている問題のひとつです。良い書き手であることはAIの時代にも重要ですが、良い書き手の意味は変わりました。A.I.は人々を助けることを意図したものであって、すべてをやってくれることを意図したものではありません。AIにエッセイを書かせると、いつもロボット的で人間味のない、言うまでもなく不正確なものが出来上がります。

Most people use AI to edit their work. Whenever something efficient comes along, people always enjoy the older version. When cars came around, there were definitely people who found pleasure in riding horses that could not be found in driving cars. So they built stables and tracks to ride horses.

ほとんどの人は、自分の仕事を編集するためにAIを使っています。効率的なものが登場すると、人々はいつも古いものを楽しみます。自動車が使われるようになったとき、自動車にはない楽しみを馬に乗ることに見出す人々が出てきました。だから、厩舎を建て、馬場を作ったのです。

Later, when the first telephones came around, some people still liked writing letters. Before computers, being a good writer meant good handwriting, spelling, and current skills like putting ideas into a memo, essay, report, etc.

その後、最初の電話が登場したときも、手紙を書くのが好きな人はいました。コンピュータが登場する以前は、書くのが上手いということは、字がきれい、スペルに間違いがない、そしてメモ、エッセイ、レポートなどに考えをまとめるといった力を意味していました。

Now, when students are writing, does handwriting matter? Does spelling? No. Soon, the ability to put ideas on paper will be much easier. Skillful writing is a talent. Everyone can have great ideas, but eloquently putting them on the page is not easy. For many people, writing their thoughts is challenging. So, who are we to prevent writing from being more accessible for them?

今、生徒が文章を書くとき、手書きは重要でしょうか？スペルを間違えないことは重要ですか？そうではありません。自分の考えを書きとめることはすぐにずっと簡単になるでしょう。巧みな文章は才能です。誰でも素晴らしい考えを持つことはありますが、それを雄弁に紙に書くことは簡単ではありません。多くの人にとって、自分の考えを書くことは難しいことなのです。ですから、書くことがもっとやさしくなるのを妨げる道理はないでしょう？

The meaning of a good writer has changed and will continue to as technology advances. However, If you enjoy writing without AI, then do it!

優れた書き手の意味は変化してきましたし、テクノロジーが進歩するにつれて変化し続けるでしょう。自分がAIなしで書くことを楽しめるのであれば、続けてください！

Being a good writer remains crucial even in the era of AI. While AI can help with technical aspects like grammar and description, it lacks the human touch in creativity, critical thinking, and emotional understanding which are essential for effective writing.

優れたライターであることは、AIの時代になっても重要です。AIは文法や説明のような技術的な面では役立ちますが、効果的な文章を書くのに不可欠な創造性、批判的思考、感情的理解といった人間的な面では欠けています。

Human writers are very good in storytelling and persuasion, skills that are inherently linked to human empathy and intuition. we have the ability to engage with readers on an emotional level, sharing our own thoughts, feelings, and responses.

人間のライターは、話術や説得といった、本来人間の共感や直感につながるスキルに長けています。私たちは、感情的なレベルで読み手と関わり、自分自身の考えや感情、反応を共有する能力を持っています。

On the other hand AI might improve the efficiency of the writing process, but it falls short in making it seem like a real human in a genuine voice and distinct viewpoint that a human writer imparts in their work. “Is skillful writing a prerequisite for accomplishment? For contentment? Even for communication?”

一方、AIは執筆プロセスの効率を向上させるかもしれませんが、人間が作品に込める正直な声や独特な視点を、本物の人間のように感じさせるには不十分です。「巧みな文章を書くことは、達成のための必須条件なのでしょうか？自己満足のため？コミュニケーションにも必要？」（と著者は問いかけています。）

Yes, skillful writing is key in all aspects. It plays a crucial role in success, as clear and effective writing is often trying to convey ideas, persuade others, the ability to express yourself through writing can truly enhance your self-understanding and emotion which is,contributing to overall happiness.

はい、よく練られた文章はあらゆる面で重要です。明確で効果的な文章を書くことは、考えを伝えたり、相手を説得したりすることであり、成功のための重要な役割を果たします。つまり、文を書くことを通して自分を表現する能力は自己理解と感情を高め、全体的な幸福を得るのに役立ちます。
