クライスラービルに展望台ができるかもしれない！

クライスラービルディングはニューヨークを代表する美しいアールデコ調の尖塔をもったビルですが、エンパイアビルディングのように、観光客が展望台までエレベータで上ってそこから街を眺めることができるという構造にはなっていません。ですから、クライスラービルに行っても、何もない１階部分を入り口から覗くだけです。

(１階はこんな感じなので、わざわざ行くほどでもないです。）

4. A public observatory on the 61st Floor is no longer accessible to the public
現在61階の展望台には行けなくなっている

In 1931 when the Chrysler Building opened, anyone willing to pay $0.50 could visit the 61st-floor observatory and take in views of the city from all four sides.

1931年にクライスラービルがオープンした際には、0.50ドルを支払えば誰でも61階の展望台を訪れ、4方向から街の景色を楽しむことができました。

Rumblings （うわさ）of a new skydeck for the Chrysler Building surfaced （明るみに出る）in 2022, according to Curbed New York. The observation deck, which some estimate will cost up to $40 to enter, would allow access to the currently private （非公開の）building.

Curbed New Yorkによると、クライスラービルに新たな展望台が建設されるという噂が2022年に明るみに出ました。この展望台は、入場料が最大40ドルになるとの推定もありますが、現在非公開のビルへのアクセスが可能になる予定です。

Though there are no finalized construction plans for the Chrysler Building’s new observation deck, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved its construction in 2020.

5. Cooper Union owns the land below the Chrysler Building

Cooper Union has owned the land the Chysler Building sits on since 1902. The land is an endowment （寄贈財産）for the college.

The property existed before the 1811 grid （1811年に策定された街路網計画）was created, resulting in the slant （傾斜地）that the Chrysler Building sits on today.

6. The Chrysler Building used to host an auto showroom

The original purpose of the Chrysler Building was to act as a headquarters for Chrysler. Though this never materialized, （実現する）an automobile showroom was located in the lobby of the building.

クライスラービルの当初の目的は、クライスラーの本社として機能することでした。しかし、それは実現しませんでしたが、ビルのロビーには自動車ショールームが設けられました。

The lobby, with Moroccan marble walls, yellow marble floors, chrome steel ornamentation（装飾）, and murals（壁画）, was an architectural tribute（賞賛のあかし） to the primacy（重要性） of the automobile at the time.

モロッコ産大理石の壁、黄色い大理石の床、クロムメッキ鋼の装飾、壁画が配されたロビーは、当時、自動車が最も重要な存在であったことを建築的に表現したものでした。
