ニューヨークで行われたホットドッグ大食い選手権。優勝者はいくつ食べたのか？

アメリカの独立記念日の恒例イベントのひとつに、" Hot Dog-Eating Contest"---「ホットドッグ大食いコンテスト」があります。2001年から2006年まで６年連続で、日本人の小林尊（たける）さんが優勝した大会です。　　

今年も開催されましたが、観客なしで、ソーシャルディスタンシィングを守りながらの開催でした。
選手の間には透明な衝立が設けられており、スタッフは全員マスクをしています。

優勝したのは、ジョーイ・チェストナット(Joey Chestnut) さん（男性部門）とミキ・スドウ(Miki Sudo)さん（女性部門）です。

Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo bolstered their impressive resumes on Saturday by setting world records at Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest.
Chestnut scarfed down 75 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to capture the mustard yellow belt for the fifth straight occasion and 13th time in 14 years. The 36-year-old from San Jose, Calif., eclipsed his own record of 74 franks and buns, set in 2018.

ジョーイ・チェストナットとミキ・スドウは、ネイサンズ・フェイマス・ホットドッグ大食いコンテストで世界新記録により、優勝回数を伸ばした。
チェストナットは10分で、75個のホットドッグを流し込み、５連勝、14年間で13回マスタードイエローのチャンピオンベルトをつかみ取った。カリフォルニアのサンホセからやってきた36歳の男が、2018年に自ら出した74個のホットドッグの記録を上回ったのである。

Matt Stonie, who upset Chestnut in 2015, was among the contenders who could not attend this year’s event because of restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic.
Darron Breedon finished in second place after eating 42 hot dogs on Saturday.

2015年にチェストナットをいらだたせたマット・ストニーは、コロナウィルスパンデミックによる人数制限により今年は出場できなかった。
ダロン・ブリードンは42個を食べ、２位だった。

Sudo, a New York native, secured her seventh straight win in the event and etched her name in the record books by consuming 48.5 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. Sudo’s performance bested Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas’ record of 45.

ニューヨーク生まれのスドウは、負け知らずの７連勝。48.5個のホットドッグを10分間で食べて、記録にその名を刻んだ。スドウの活躍は45個という、ソーニャ・「ブラックウィドウ」・トーマスの記録を凌ぐものだった。

Chestnut and Sudo each pocketed $10,000 for their victories.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event was held indoors as opposed to an outdoor stage in Coney Island.

チェストナットとスドウはそれぞれ、賞金の１万ドルをふところにいれた。
コロナウィルスパンデミックのために、このイベントはコニーアイランドの屋外の反対側の屋内で行われた。

Travel restrictions narrowed the field of competitors this year, with only five men and five women taking part. The competitors were spaced six feet apart and separated by plexiglass dividers.

旅行制限のために、今年は出場者が少なく、わずか、５人の男性、５人の女性の出場となった。出場者は６フィート離され、プレキシガラスの衝立でしきられた。
