The Trump administration has sent masked federal（連邦制の） agents around the country to conduct raids（強制捜査） in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, targeting workplaces, courthouses（裁判所）, neighborhoods and homes.

The sweeps（一掃） have entangled（巻き込む） beloved community members, undocumented parents with American-born children and even U.S. citizens. Latinos have often been the target of these raids, and many, regardless of their immigration status, are afraid to leave their homes or go to work.

Gen Z protests are having a moment.

👩🏼‍🏫"be having a moment"は、「成功や人気を博している状態」を表すインフォーマルな言い方です。

Nepal, Indonesia, the Philippines and Madagascar have all seen large protests this year led by young people outraged（激怒した） over government corruption and inequality. Flying above each of the protests was a common flag of a grinning skull and bones wearing a straw hat.

The flag comes from a long-running Japanese manga and anime series called “One Piece,” which follows a scrappy（喧嘩好きな） crew of pirates as they take on（～と戦う） a corrupt and repressive（抑圧的な） government.

Z世代の抗議活動が注目を集めています。ネパール、インドネシア、フィリピン、マダガスカルでは、政府の腐敗と不平等に怒りの声を上げる若者に先導された大きな抗議が見られました。どの抗議集会でも、麦わら帽子をかぶった笑う骸骨の旗が共通してはためいていました。

Nvidia has become a driving force（立役者） behind the economy of the United States. Spending on data centers, which are filled with the company’s chips, accounted for 92 percent of the country’s gross domestic product（国内総生産GDP） growth in the first half of the year. Without it, the economy would have grown 0.1 percent.
