ニューヨークの子供たちの教育に協力するメトロポリタン美術館！

メトロポリタン美術館といえば、世界屈指の美術館のひとつですが、毎年、公立学校の生徒の芸術作品の中から優秀作品を選んで展示しています。（今年は10月20日までです。）

メトロポリタン美術館のホームページにP.S. Art 2024（P.S.は、Public Schoolsの略）についての説明がありましたので、それを読みます。

P. S. Art 2024: Celebrating the Creative Spirit of New York City Kids
P.S.アート2024：ニューヨークの子供たちの創造的精神を称える

P. S. Art is an annual celebration of achievement in the arts in New York City public schools. This year marks the twenty-second anniversary of the exhibition and the seventeenth year it has been hosted at The Met. This juried exhibition （展示審査会）of 126 works of art by talented young artists showcases （見せる）the creativity of prekindergarten through grade 12 students from all five boroughs, including students from District 75, a citywide district serving students with disabilities.

The exhibition consists of collages, drawings, mixed-media works, paintings, photographs, prints, and sculpture. Each work of art demonstrates personal expression, imaginative use of media, the results of close observation, and an understanding of artistic processes.

P.S. アートは、ニューヨーク市立学校における芸術の成果を毎年祝う催しです。今年で22回目を迎え、メトロポリタン美術館での開催は17年目となります。才能ある若手アーティストによる126点の審査員によって選ばれた芸術作品の展覧会は、障害を持つ生徒のための学区である第75学区を含む、ニューヨーク市5区全域の幼稚園児から高校3年生までの生徒たちの創造性を紹介しています。

この展覧会では、コラージュ、絵画、ミクストメディア作品、絵画、写真、版画、彫刻などが展示されています。芸術作品はそれぞれ、個人の表現、メディアの独創的な使用、綿密な観察の結果、芸術的プロセスの理解を示しています。

Dedicated （熱心な）art teachers support students’ creativity and help them look closely in order to respond to their worlds through art making. As students take art classes from one year to the next, they increase their understanding of art, sharpen their skills, and learn to harness （活かす）their imaginations for artistic expression. This exhibition celebrates the students’ journeys and discoveries from early childhood to young adulthood. Moreover, the text accompanying all student artwork is evidence of the reflective nature of art making.

熱心な美術教師たちは、生徒たちの創造性をサポートし、芸術政策を通じて彼らの世界に応えるために、じっくりと観察する手助けをします。生徒たちは1年から12年まで美術の授業を受けるにつれ、美術に対する理解を深め、技術を磨き、想像力を芸術表現に活かすことを学びます。この展覧会は、幼児期から青年期までの生徒たちの旅と発見を祝うものです。さらに、すべての生徒の作品に添えられたメッセージは、美術制作が何かを反映するという性質があることを証明しています。

A panel （審査委員会）of arts specialists from New York City Public Schools and Studio in a School selected 228 semifinalists from nearly 1,300 submissions（提出）. A jury （審査員団）of distinguished （功績のある）members of the New York City arts community, including staff of The Met, selected the works on view.

ニューヨーク市公立学校と「スタジオ・イン・ア・スクール」の美術専門家からなる審査委員会が、1,300点近い応募作品の中から228点のセミファイナリストを選出しました。ニューヨーク市の美術界の著名人からなる審査員団（メトロポリタン美術館のスタッフを含む）が、展示作品を選出しました。

ニューヨーク市公立学校（NYCPS）は、メトロポリタン美術館がルース・アンド・ハロルド・D・ユリス教育センターで本展覧会を企画、開催し、作品の選定に多大なご協力をいただいたことに感謝いたします。また、NYCPSは、P. S. Art 2024の調整においてスポンサーシップと多大な役割を果たしたスタジオ・イン・ア・スクールNYCにも感謝いたします。

明日はこれらの中から、幼稚園児の作品とその作品の評を２つご紹介します。
