今年の6月30日に始まるはずだった、「渋滞時の追加料金システム」（congestion pricing system)は実施の数週間前に突然一時中止になっていました。NBCニュースは次のように報じました。

Gov. Kathy Hochul, who put the plan on "pause" back in June just weeks before it was supposed to take effect, will address a path forward on how to fund the MTA, according to a spokesperson. Hochul put the plan on hold because "a daily $15 toll was too much for hard-working New Yorkers in this economic climate," the spokesperson said.

キャシー・ホークル知事は、6月に（渋滞時追加料金制度の実施）計画を発効予定のわずか数週間前に「一時停止」としました。そして今後MTAへの資金調達方法について進むべき道筋を明らかにする予定です。報道官は、「この経済状況下で、毎日15ドルの通行料は勤勉なニューヨーカーにとって高すぎる」ため、ホークル知事は計画を保留にしたと述べています。

👩やはり一回15ドル（約2,300円）は高すぎたようです。

今回この追加料金システムが料金を９ドルに下げて実施されるようです。

トランプ氏、ニューヨーク市の渋滞税復活を目指すホークル氏の動きを批判：「労働者、家族、企業に打撃を与える」

The Democratic governor is proposing a $9 daily toll — after an earlier plan for $15 fees went down in flames （突然だめになる）amid a middle- and working-class outcry （抗議）.

“I have great respect for the Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, and look forward to working with her to Make New York and America Great Again. But I strongly disagree with the decision on the congestion tax,” said Trump, 78.

“It has never worked, but especially so with a city, town, or village that is trying to come back from very rough times, which can certainly be said of New York City. It will put New York City at a disadvantage over competing cities and states, and businesses will flee（逃げる）.”

民主党の知事は、15ドルの料金案が中流階級や労働者階級の反発を受けて頓挫したことを受け、1日9ドルの料金を提案しています。

「私はニューヨーク州知事のキャシー・ホークル氏を非常に尊敬しており、彼女と協力してニューヨークとアメリカを再び偉大なものにすることを楽しみにしています。しかし、渋滞税の決定には強く反対します」と、78歳のトランプ氏は語りました。

Trump, whose populist platform of tax breaks for workers and retirees helped secure his return to the White House, said it would be those struggling to make ends meet （家計のやりくりをする）who would suffer most.

“Not only is this a massive tax to people coming in, it is extremely inconvenient from both driving and personal bookkeeping （経理）standards. It will be virtually （事実上）impossible for New York City to come back as long as the congestion tax is in effect,” he said.

“It will hurt workers, families, and businesses, but in particular, anything to do with jobs. It is the most regressive tax known to womankind （女性）(man!).”

労働者および退職者向けの減税という大衆受けする政策を掲げて、ホワイトハウスへの復帰を確実にしたトランプ氏は、生活費を工面するのに苦労している人々が最も苦しむことになるだろうと述べました。

「この税制は入って来る人々にとって大きな税負担となるだけでなく、運転や個人での経理の基準から見ても非常に不便だ。混雑税が実施されている限り、ニューヨーク市が復興することは事実上不可能だ」

「労働者やその家族、企業に打撃を与える。特に、雇用に関わるものには。これは人類（男性！）史上最も逆行的な税制だ。」と彼は言いました。

Hochul got testy （怒った）when asked about the president-elect’s statements at a Thursday afternoon press conference, and offered up some scathing （厳しく非難する）suggestions for Trump.

“In your first days in office, don’t eviscerate （骨抜きにする）the public transportation system, help us,” she said. “Fix that first before you say a word about what I’m doing.”

“I would welcome a conversation about the federal government then supplementing （補う） that kind of money as well,” she added, calling it a “shared goal” with Trump to get the Big Apple a “world class transit system.”
