今日は、ニューヨークのイラストレーター、ファネシャ・ファブレが関わろうと決心した、ブロンクス・テイルズ・キャット・レスキューのホームページを読みます。

Bronx Tails Cat Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

We are volunteers, dedicated to improving the lives of local stray and feral cats in the Bronx and Harlem. We perform Trap-Neuter-Return of stray and feral cats living in managed colonies in our communities, provide medical care for sick and injured feral cats, and rescue friendly strays for adoption to forever homes.

ブロンクス・テイルズ・キャット・レスキュー, Inc. は、501(c)(3) 条項に基づく非営利の慈善団体です。

私たちはボランティアとして、ブロンクスとハーレム地域の野良猫と野生化した猫の生活を改善するために活動しています。地域社会で管理されているコロニーに住む野良猫と野生化した猫の捕獲・不妊手術・放帰（TNR）を実施し、病気や怪我をした野生化した猫の医療ケアを提供し、人懐っこい野良猫を里親家庭に譲渡するための救出活動を行っています。

Though we are NOT a shelter and can not take in any surrendered pets, we may be able to make helpful (or at least practical) suggestions.

当団体はシェルターではありませんので、保護されたペットを引き取ることはできません。ただし、役立つ（または少なくとも実用的な）アドバイスを提供できると思います。

Our Mission 

私たちの使命

Bronx Tails Cat Rescue’s mission has always been to improve the lives of feral and stray street cats. From the onset, this has involved as much Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) as we could cram（詰め込む） into our lives, bathrooms, spare rooms or whatever any of us could manage to use when the cats returned from surgery and needed a spot to recover in before they could be safely released.

ブロンクス・テイルズ・キャット・レスキューのミッションは、常に野良猫と迷い猫の生活を改善することです。当初から、猫たちが手術から戻ってきて安全に放たれるまで、回復する場所が必要になるので、私たちの生活空間や浴室、空き部屋などを使えるようできる限りのトラップ・ニューター・リターン（TNR）活動を行ってきました。

👩‍🏫トラップ・ニューター・リターン（TNR）は、一言で言うと、猫たちを捕獲し、避妊手術、去勢手術から帰ってきた猫たちを安全な場所に戻す活動のことです。

Our next good idea was to have three of us buy a 3-family house with a basement or garage space that we could dedicate to post-surgery recovery. But this was in 2009 and the Economy said “Nuh-uh. Nope. Don’t think so.” to this plan. But two of us convinced the third would-be homeowner that she could get her own place. 

次に考えたのは、メンバーの３人に地下室やガレージスペースのある3世帯住宅を購入してもらい、その地下室などを手術後の回復スペースとして使わせてもらうことでした。これは2009年のことでしたが、当時の経済状況では「無理だ。ダメだ。無理だ」となり、この計画はダメになりました。しかし、３人のうち２人がホーム・オーナーになってくれそうな３人目に、「あなたなら自分専用の場所を持てる」と説得しました。

A friend found a hovel（あばら家）-for-sale in an unfamiliar neighborhood. There was potential in the hovel and our very generous（太っ腹な）  friends at Classic Restoration ripped（破る）, stripped（剥ぎ取る）, and refashioned（改造する） it into a cozy little house with a basement set up to efficiently and comfortably hold cats before and after surgery.

一人の友人が私たちの知らなかった場所で売り出されているあばら家を見つけました。そのあばら家が使えそうだったので、クラシック・リノベーションという会社に勤めるとても親切な友人たちが、手術前後の猫たちが効率的で快適に住める地下室を備えた温かい小さな家に大改造してくれました。

For the first six years of our TNR efforts, we never managed to find the time to figure out and file the paperwork to allow us to become a legitimate（正規の） 501(c)(3) charity. A few years ago a kind, smart attorney（弁護士） offered to take on the task. Thanks again, Chuck.

当団体のTNR活動開始から最初の6年間、私たちは501(c)(3)認定の慈善団体として正式に登録するための書類作成と提出に時間を割くことができませんでした。数年前、親切で腕のいい弁護士さんが、この仕事を引き受けてくれると申し出て下さいました。チャックという名前の方です。チャック、改めて感謝します。

Our focus on TNR continues, despite the vagaries （浮き沈み）of life, crazy weather and the sad fact that there are only 24 hours in a day. Now that we have recovery space – and Lieutenant（警部補） Lou joined our crew – we have also been able to take in sick and injured street cats and care for them until they are healthy. 

TNRへの取り組みは続いています。人生の浮き沈みや異常な天候、そして1日は24時間しかないという悲しい現実にもかかわらずです。今や猫たちのリカバリースペースは確保されています。そして、ルー警部補がチームに加わって下さり、病気や怪我をした野良猫を保護し、健康になるまでケアできるようになりました。

It is a relief and privilege（幸運にも行うチャンスが与えられたもの） to be able to take in gravely ill and elderly feral cats so that they might be warm and comfortable in their last few hours, or days. This is our girl Multi’s second winter of “last few days!” We’ve done our best to give many of these cats some comfort when their time came to cross over the “Rainbow Bridge.” We’ve recovered many cats with horrific injuries from cars, raccoons（アライグマ）, people, dogs, and everything else that happens in their sometimes perilous（非常に危険な） lives.

重病や高齢の野良猫が、最後の数時間や数日間を暖かく快適に過ごすよう保護できることは、心が安らぐ幸運なことでもあります。今年で、雌猫のマルチちゃんは「最後の日々」の二度目の冬を送っています！私たちは、これらの多くの猫たちが「虹の橋」を渡って天国へ行く時が来た時、安らぎを与えるよう最善を尽くしてきました。車、アライグマ、人間、犬、そして彼らの危険な人生で起こるあらゆるものにより、ひどい怪我を負った多くの猫を救出してきました。

We also have a few permanent residents with special needs and conditions that make them unadoptable, but not unlovable. More temporarily (we hope!) in residence and in foster care is an ever-shifting（絶え間なく変わる） crew of wonderful adoptable cats and kittens just waiting for the right person – please tell your friends! Our fosterers（里親ボランティア） take some of these cats into their homes, treat them like family, and cope with（困難な問題に対処する） and promote our efforts to link them to forever homes and families.

当施設には、ここが永遠の場所となるかもしれない愛すべき数匹の猫がいます。特別なニーズや状況のため里親が見つからないのです。（引き取りてがすぐにき決まるのは）素晴らしい里子の素質がある猫や子猫たちで、私たちの手元からすぐに離れて行ってしまいます。（私たちはそれを願っているのですけれどね。）お友達にもぜひお伝えください！里親ボランティアは、なかなか引き取りて画決まらない猫を自宅に迎え入れ、家族同然に世話し、里親探しを支援し、永久的な家庭と結びつけるための活動を支えています。

Our efforts to provide medical care to these sick, injured, elderly, and adoptable cats has shrunk the space we have available for TNR recovery. To address this, we are yet again reconfiguring（再構成する） the basement to allow us to do even more TNR in the coming year, in addition to providing care that will relieve the suffering（苦痛） of the sick and injured cats who cross our paths（偶然に出会う）.

病気や怪我、高齢で里親を探せる猫たちへの医療ケアを提供する取り組みにより、TNR回復のためのスペースが不足しています。この問題を解決するため、来年以降、TNR活動をさらに拡大するため、地下室をもっと増やす予定です。これにより、病気や怪我をした猫たちの苦痛を和らげるケアを提供しつつ、より多くのTNRを実施できるようになります。
