今回はアメリカ（特にニューヨーク）の高校生と日本の高校生の夏休みの過ごし方を比較してみたいと思います。

日本の高校生は、夏休みは夏期講習があったり、予備校に行ったりして、大学入試に向けて頑張っていると思います。

一方ニューヨーク市では"Summer Youth Employment Program"、（夏期青少年雇用プログラム）を利用して、約1７万人の高校生が市が提供するインターンシップ制度のもと、実社会で働きながら様々なことを学んでいます。（宿題のない長い夏休みを満喫しているわけではありません。。。( ´艸｀)）

特筆すべきは、NYCが、全米でも珍しく高校生向けの有給インターンが非常に多い都市だということです。この制度は市が大規模に運営していて、給付金として学びながら働く若者を支援しています。

また学校には、SYEPの一環として"CareerReady"という取り組みがあり、働くための準備（知識やマナーなど）を教えます。若者の就労支援やキャリア教育はイメージとして次の様になります。
