ニューヨーク、クィーンズ区がかかえる問題と、支援する人達の存在を知る。

昨日の続き、"HOUR CHILDREN'S CORNER"の画像の窓の格子の奥に、一枚のポスターがありました。

The Osborne Association offers programs for people who have been in conflict with the law and their families in the state of New York. It operates out of offices in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Buffalo, Manhattan, and Newburgh, New York. It was founded by Thomas Mott Osborne, former mayor of Auburn, New York and Warden of Sing Sing Correctional Facility.

オズボーン協会は、ニューヨーク州において、法律と家族で問題を抱えている人たちのためのプログラムを提供しており、ブルックリン、ブロンクス、バッファロー、マンハッタン、ニューバーグにあるオフィスを拠点に活動している。トーマス・モット・オズボーンによって創設された。彼は、ニューヨーク、オーバーンの元市長であり、シンシン刑務所の所長であった。

Osborne's family-focused programs help individuals reconnect with family members and their communities, address substance abuse problems, and prepare for employment. The organization advocates nationally for the needs of children with incarcerated parents, the rights of older adults in prison and reentry, and of the importance of prison educational programs.

オズボーンは、家族を重視したプログラムを考案し、（刑期を終えた）個人が、家族と再び絆を結び、地域に受け入れられ、薬物を止めるよう努力し、就職の準備をすることを支援している。オズボーン協会は、収監された親を持つ子供たちに必要なもの、収監されている高齢者の人権と社会への復帰、そして収監中の教育プログラムの重要性を国中に訴えている。

クィーンズ区は、低所得者向けの住宅が多く、犯罪率が高いと言われています。犯罪は憎むべきものですが、罪のない子供たちが親の犯罪によって犠牲にならないよう、活動している人たちがいるということ、そして、立ち直ろうとしている人たちを応援する人たちがいるということを、この一枚のポスターから知ることができました。
