「ザ・カメレオン」は、英語の学習教材にもなるボードゲーム！

お子様が喜ぶプレゼントに、ボードゲームの、"The Chameleon"（ザ・カメレオン）というものがありました。

日本でも買えるようですが、多分日本語版はないと思うので、どんなゲームなのかを動画とともに見たいと思います。

まずは、You Tube の説明を聞いてね。
スクリプトはその後に載せます。

We're sharing clues and hunting lizards.
That's right, it's "The Chameleon" from Big Potato Games.
This re-playable reptile guessing game pits three to eight players against each other in a competition to either suss out the secret Chameleon player or if you're the chameleon, blend in with the team and escape suspicion. "The Chameleon" is played over several rounds.

そう、ビッグポテトが出している「ザ・カメレオン」です。
この繰り返し遊べるゲームは、３人から８人で誰がカメレオンなのかを競って当てるゲームです。もし、自分がカメレオンなら、チームの中に隠れて、疑われないようにしましょう。
「ザ・カメレオン」は数ラウンド行います。

Setup for the first round begins with a shuffle of the Blue Chameleon Card into a matching set of Code Cards. Deal one to each player face down who may then secretly look at their card. One player is the Chameleon and has no information about the code. Each other player has a Code Card which contains a table of dice results and grid coordinates.

一巡目は、青いカメレオンのカードを丁度良い数（プレーヤーの数マイナス１）のコードカードの中に入れて、シャッフルすることから始めてください。このカードをプレーヤー一人ひとりに、表を下にして一枚ずつ配ってください。各プレーヤーはこっそりコードカードを見てください。誰か一人のところにカメレオンカードが配られています。その人は（コードカードがないので、コードカードに書かれている情報は）何も知りません。他のプレーヤーにはコードカードが配られていて、それにはサイコロが振られて出た結果とそれに対応する座標の票がのっています。

（MisTyの補注：黄色のサイコロの目は１～６、青のサイコロの目は１～８です。）

In the first round, randomly choose a dealer who shuffles the Topic Card deck and reveals the top card face up in the center of the table. They then roll the blue and yellow dice. The result of this leads all players except the Chameleon to a secret coordinate which will indicate a single word on the current Topic Card. This mythical creature's example is gonna be centaur D4.

一巡目で、一人のディーラーをランダムに選び、その人はトピックカードをシャッフルして一番上のカードを表にして、テーブルの真ん中に置きます。そして、青と黄色のサイコロを転がします。このサイコロの目を見て、カメレオンになったプレーヤー以外の全てのプレーヤーは、秘密の座標がわかります。その座標を使って（表になっている）トピックカードに書かれている単語を見つけます。サンプルとして、トピックカードに書かれているのが、「想像上の生き物」なら、自分のコード表から見つけたコードがD-４だと知っているひとは、それが、"centaur---ケンタウロス---半人半馬"だと知ることができます。

After collectively taking a moment to think, starting with the dealer and proceeding clockwise, each player quickly and without hesitation says a single word related to the indicated code word. I'm gonna say archer. If another player says their word first, a player may repeat their words.

考える時間をみんなで少しとった後、ディーラーから右回りに、一人ひとりが、素早く、ためらうことなしに、正解の単語から連想される一つの単語を言います。（例として、「ケンタウロス」からの連想で、）私は「アーチャー（射手）」といったとするわね。ほかのプレーヤーが言った単語と同じ単語を繰り返してもいいです。

Since the Chameleon doesn't know which word on the table is secret, they have to do their best to blend in with their answer by either staying vague or listening to other players, like if somebody said "horse man". That's a terrible clue. Those players have to be careful not to give away too much, but if they're too vague, the other players may suspect them of being the Chameleon, like if you said story. Once everyone has said their word, all players debate the identity of the Chameleon. Based on the answers and everyone's reactions to them, players try and suss out the Chameleon, or if they are the Chameleon, to pin the blame on somebody else.

カメレオンのカードを持っている人は、（コードが分からず）テーブルの上のトピックカードのどの単語が正解なのか分からないので、あいまいな単語を言ったり、他のプレーヤーの言った単語（例えば、誰かがホースマンと言うかもしれません）を聞いたりして、何とかして（カメレオンのように）姿をかさなくてはなりません。（ホースマン）は、分かりにくいヒントですね。（カメレオン以外の）プレーヤーは気を付けてヒントを与えすぎないようにしなければなりません。しかし、曖昧過ぎると、他のプレーヤーはその人がカメレオンかな、と思ってしまいます。”story---お話"と言ったらどうでしょう？誰もが単語を言ったら、全員でカメレオンは誰なのかを話し合います。みんなが言った答えやリアクションを元にして、プレーヤーはカメレオンを推測します。カメレオンになっている人は、他の人がカメレオンだと言うようにします。

Once a debate has raged for a minute or so, everyone votes by using their pointer finger and pointing it at the player who they suspect. The player with the most votes must turn over their card and reveal their identity. If there's a tie, the dealer gets the tie-breaking vote. If a Code Card is revealed, the group has chosen the wrong player, and the Chameleon escapes.

１分間ほど話し合いが続いたら、みんなが人差し指で、（カメレオンだと）思う人を指さします。最も多くの人に指さされた人は、自分に配られたカードを開いて自分の正体を明かさなければなりません。もし、同点ならディーラーが指定します。もしコードカードだったら、指名されたされた人以外の全員が間違ったとされ、カメレオンは逃げおおせたということです。

If the revealed card is the Chameleon, they've been captured. However, the Chameleon gets one chance to wiggle out of trouble. They get one attempt to guess the secret word on the Code Card. If they're right, they escape. Do chameleons wiggle? Are they wiggly? I don't know.

もし、表にしたカードがカメレオンカードなら、捕まえられたということです。しかし、カメレオンにはトラブルをうまく逃れるチャンスがあります。コードカードの秘密の単語を当てるチャンスが１回だけ与えられます。もしそれが当たれば、カメレオンは逃げられます。カメレオンはうまく逃げるでしょうか？（捕えられて）体をくねくねさせていますか？どちらでしょう？

Next, score points based on the outcome. If the Chameleon escaped, they get two points.
If the Chameleon wiggled out by guessing the word, they get one point.
If the Chameleon was captured, the other players each get two points.

次に結果に基づいてポイントを付けます。もしカメレオンが逃げおおせれば、２ポイントもらえます。カメレオンが秘密の単語を言い当てられればば１ポイントもらえます。もしカメレオンがつかまれば、他のプレーヤー全員が２ポイントゲットです！

The round resets with the previous Chameleon taking the role of dealer and mixing the Green Chameleon Card in with the matching set of Code Cards. Rounds continue until a player scores five points to win the game.

次のラウンドは、カメレオンだった人がディーラーになって、緑のカメレオンカードをコードカードと混ぜます。ラウンドはプレーヤーが５ポイント獲得してゲームに勝つまで続きます。
