Tonight the story of one artist who is putting his skills to work and commemorating this pandemic by sketching "mask" wearing strap hangers.

今夜は自分のスキルを作品の創作に向け、耳掛けマスク（の人）をスケッチすることで今回のパンデミックを記憶に残している一人の画家のストーリーをお送りします。

At a time when most are still avoiding the subway because of COVID-19, Devon Rodriguez is drawn to the rails.

新型コロナウィルスのために、まだほとんどの人が地下鉄を避けている時期ですが、デヴォン・ロドリゲスは電車に引きつけられています。

Like I have to capture this, put this in my art because this is a moment in history that we've never seen before you know.

これを自分のアートに残さなくちゃと思ってるんだよね。これまで全く見たことのない歴史の瞬間なんだから。

New York City, where having on a mask is now second nature, and is also the driving force behind Devon's latest project.

ニューヨークシティはマスクを付けることが今や習性になっていて、またデヴォンの最近の活動の後押しをしています。

The 24 year old is hyper focused, has been drawing people in the subway since 2011 after an art teacher showed him his book filled with images like these.

この24歳の青年はとても注目されています。2011年から地下鉄の中で人のスケッチをしているのです。芸術の先生が自分が描いたこのような絵が詰まったスケッチブックを彼に見せたことがきっかけでした。

I thought it was weird at first being a kid from the Bronx. I'm like that's creepy,
but then I was like you know what that's a cool idea. So I started back then.

ブロンクスに住んでいる一人の子供にとって、最初それは変な絵だなと思えたんです。そのときは気持ち悪いなって。でもそれから、カッコいいアイデアだって思ったんです。そのときから始めたんです。

People now pay top dollar for his work. There's a wait list to be sketched. This project on Instagram has 30 thousand followers exploded to more than 350 ,000 in one month. And at first, a fan connects the dots

今ではみんなが書いて欲しいって高いお金を払っています。予約リストがあるのです。インスタグラムで紹介された、このプロジェクトに３万人のフォロワーがつき、一か月で再生回数は35万人上膨れ上がりました。最初は口コミなのです。

Look even governor Cuomo included a sketch in his daily COVID update.

クオモ知事までが、毎日行っている新型コロナの情報で彼のスケッチのことを取り上げました。

It was called a deep breath moment where he speaks about something positive to like relieve people. And it was about me and my sketches. I was like what? Andrew Cuomo? I was like is this real? A bunch of people forwarded it to me.

衝撃の瞬間っていうのかな、知事がみんなを和ませてるっていうようなことを言ってくれたんだ。自分とスケッチのことだったんだ。えっ？アンドリュー・クオモが？って感じで、ホント？って思ったよ。たくさんの人がそれを僕に転送してくれたんだ。

As for Devon's training, that's as interesting as his creations. He graduated from the High school of Art and Design, got accepted to F.I.T., but after only one year dropped out.

彼のトレーニング（の仕方）と言えば、それは彼の作品と同じくらい興味深いです。ハイスクール・オブ・アート＆デザイン学校を卒業し、F.I.T.（Fashion Institute of Technology）に入学しました。しかし、たった１年でやめました。

I had a bunch of like commissions and sales to deal with and I also had a bunch of school projects.

多くの依頼を受けたり、作品購入の話があったんだ。学校ではたくさんの課題もあったしね。

He chose his career. It took only about 30 minutes. He's done and gift for the gentleman.

彼は仕事として絵を描くことを選択したのです。たった30分で仕上げて、それをモデルになった紳士あげました。

I 've always wanted to succeed as an artist and now it's happening.

僕はいつも画家として成功したいと思ってたんだけど、今、それが現実に起こってるんだ。
