In the fight against COVID-19, a vaccine is a critical part of addressing the global health crisis by decreasing rates of infection, disease and death worldwide. Pfizer and BioNTech leveraged decades of scientific expertise to design and execute a rigorous Phase 3 clinical trial program to make the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine available as quickly and safely as possible. 

新型コロナウィルスに対する闘いの中で、ワクチンは感染、発症、死亡の割合を減らすことによって世界的な危機への対応の重要な一部となっています。ファイザーとバイオンテックは、何十年にもわたる科学的な専門知識を力として、綿密な第三段階の臨床治験プログラムを構築し、遂行しました。これは、ファイザー - バイオンテックのワクチンをできるだけ早く、安全に接種できるよう行うものです。

Today, we are continuing to evaluate data from this landmark trial, while also initiating new trials in special populations, such as pregnant women and children under 12. We are also planning studies to assess the potential need for boosters or modified vaccine in the event that newly emerging variants evade protection provided by the existing vaccine.

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine has not been approved or licensed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but has been authorized for emergency use by FDA under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to prevent Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) for use in individuals 16 years of age and older. 

ファイザー - バイオンテックの新型コロナウィルスワクチンはまだ、合衆国の食品医薬品局（FDA)の承認、資格を得ておりませんが、16歳以上に対する、新型コロナウィルス感染症（COVID-19)を防ぐための緊急時使用許可（EUA)規定の下でFDAにより緊急使用の権限が与えられています。

このワクチンの緊急使用はただFD&C Act （Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act
連邦食品・医薬品・化粧品法)の564条(b)の(1)項の下で、医薬品の緊急使用の認定を正当とする条件が揃っている期間のみ認められているものです。ただし、しばらくして緊急事態宣言が解除されたり、承認が取消されたりしなければ、ということです。EUAファクトをご覧下さい。

Developing the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is only possible through the dedicated work of thousands of individuals and those who volunteer to take part in research. We are grateful to all of our clinical trial investigators and their study teams who are partnering with us in this effort and to all of the participants and their families who have and will volunteer to help make a difference for society.

Vaccine doses for placebo recipients in our studies have been secured. To date, all participants 16 years and older in our landmark trial have been offered the opportunity to receive the vaccine. Younger landmark trial participants receiving the placebo will also be offered the opportunity to switch to the vaccine at their six-month check-in.

我々の研究の中での偽薬ワクチン投与は安全な状態で行われております。現在に至るまで我々の画期的な治験に参加いただいている16歳以上の人たち全員にそのワクチンを投与する機会を与えています。年齢の若い方で偽薬を投与された方も６ヶ月経った時点でチェックしてワクチンの種類を替えて投与します。
