寄付をして盲導犬の名付け親になる。そして得られるもの。

昨日のブログでお知らせしましたが、ハロウィーンの盲導犬仮装コンテストでは、ロッシ君が優勝しました。

ニューヨーク州郊外にある、盲導犬訓練所の"Development Center"で将来盲導犬として活躍する子犬を育てているのですが、そこで5,000ドルで犬の名付け親になれるという情報を得ました。
こちらです。

日本円で55万円ほど。寄付の文化に慣れていない日本人にとってはちょっと尻込みする額の寄付です。

その寄付には様々な特典があるようですので、それを読んでみることにしました。

Special naming a future guide dog puppy is a unique way to pay tribute to a member of your family, a dear friend or to commemorate a special occasion, while making a difference in the lives of people with vision loss by supporting Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

将来の盲導犬の名付け親になることで、ご家族やご友人への賛辞の意味をもっていたり、特別な出来事の思い出になったりします。そして同時に「ガイディングアイズ・フォア・ザ・ブラインド」の活動を支援することによって視力を失った人たちの生活を変えるのです。

By special naming a puppy, you and/or a loved one will receive:

子犬の名付け親になることであなたやあなたの大切な人が受けられる恩恵には次のようなことがあります。

●A Personalized Naming Certificate and photo of your special named pup

あなたの名前入の名付け親資格証と名前をもらう子犬の写真を差し上げます。

● 3 updates and photos of your pup during the puppy raising period.

養育期間に３回、子犬の最新の様子をお知らせし、写真を差し上げます。

● Notification of acceptance into formal guide dog training program and an update during training.

正式な盲導犬訓練プログラムに入ることが承諾された時にお知らせし、訓練期間中に最新情報を差し上げます。

And if the puppy completes the program, we will provide:

その子犬が訓練プログラムを終了すると、次のようなことを行います。

● Announcement of placement with a person with vision loss

視力を失った人が盲導犬を得たことを通知致します。

● Invitation to the graduation ceremony, if applicable

該当されていれば卒業式にご招待いたします。

● A graduation photograph of your dog, a copy of the program, and recognition in Graduation slide show.

あなたが名前を付けてくださった犬の卒業写真とプログラム、卒業式のスライドショウを差し上げます。

The guidelines for naming a Guiding Eyes for the Blind puppy are:

「ガイディングアイズ・フォア・ザ・ブラインド」の名付け方のガイドラインは次のようなものです。

● Names that are easy to say and not too long

言い安く、長すぎない名前にしてください。

● Inappropriate names such as “Killer” will not be approved as our graduates will be repeating his/her name on a daily basis.

日常的に何回も呼ぶ名前ですので、「キラー」のような名前は不適切で受け付けられません。

While we hope all puppies will complete the training program, there is no guarantee that your special named puppy will complete training to become a guide dog.

全ての子犬が訓練プログラムを終了することを願っておりますが、あなたの付けた名前をもらった子犬が必ず盲導犬になる訓練を終了することは保証できません。

Guiding Eyes believes each dog chooses its own career path, and not all dogs will choose the path to be a guide dog. Dogs may be selected to become part of our elite breeding stock, others are released and enter alternate service dog careers, or find wonderful homes with adoptive families.

ガイディングアイズは、全ての犬が盲導犬への道を選択するとは限らず、どの犬もそれぞれの道を選ぶことになります。犬の中には優れたブリーディングへの道に進むものもいるかもしれませんし、訓練をやめて違う目的のサービスドッグ（注：自閉症の人に寄り添うなど）への道に進んだり、また家族の一員として素晴らしい家庭に引き取られていく犬があるかもしれません。

Only one Guiding Eyes puppy will be named per special name request regardless of outcome. Since each litter is assigned names according to a letter of the alphabet there may be a delay in the naming of the puppy.

結果にかかわらず、名前を付けていただくのはガイディングアイズの子犬の一匹だけです。出産のたびにアルファベット順で名前が与えられますので、子犬の名付けの順番が遅れるかもしれません。
