アーブネット（ArbNet)という、樹木の専門家の団体が「樹木園」レベル１と認定した、ニューヨークのマディソン・スクェア・パークです。

LEVELS OF ACCREDITATION　　評価レベル

The four levels of accreditation recognize arboreta at various degrees of development, capacity, and professionalism. Accredited arboreta are encouraged to seek and achieve higher professional standards and move up through the levels.

レベルは４段階あります。どのくらい整備されているのか、規模や専門性はどの程度かなど様々な段階付けを行って樹木園の認定を行います。段階付けをすることによって、より高い技術的水準を目指し、達成しながらレベルを上げていこうとするモチベーションを養います。

Level I arboreta are generally smaller publicly accessible sites with at least 25 species of woody plants, one or a few employees or volunteers, a governing body, and an arboretum plan. Examples of arboreta at this level may include golf courses, college arboreta, cemeteries, zoos, private estates, or towns with an organized tree collection.

レベル１
一般的に行けるような比較的小規模なもの。少なくとも２５種類の木本植物があり、１人か数人の従業員かボランティア、管理団体があり、計画に沿って活動していること。形態の一例としては、ゴルフコース、大学の樹木園（演習林）、墓地、動物園、私有地、あるいは木の収集を組織的に行っている町など。

At the highest level of accreditation, Level IV arboreta employ well-qualified tree scientists engaged in publishing sophisticated research, manage living tree collections for the purpose of conservation, and take an active role in supporting tree conservation through the Global Trees Campaign. Level IV arboreta are world-renowned tree-focused institutions.

レベル４
最高レベルの樹木園です。高い資格を有した樹木専門の科学者を雇用している。高度な研究を発表している。保護の目的で現存している植栽を管理している。「グローバル樹木キャンペーン」を通して樹木の保護を支援する積極的な役割を担っている。世界的に有名な樹木に特化した協会組織である。
