ほとんどがキャンセルです。コロナウィルス感染の流行のためです。原因を示す言い方として、学校では"because of ～”、"due to ～"、"owing to ～"、"thanks to ～"を教えています。

ところが、ニューヨークのコロナウィルスの記事ではほとんどが（すべてといっていいくらい）"due to"です。

違いはなんでしょうか？ロングマンで調べました。（例もです。下線はMisTy。）

used to say who or what causes something to happen or is the reason for something
人またはものが何かが起こったり何かの理由になったりしているときに使う

例
He had to retire because of ill health.
彼は健康がすぐれないため、引退しなければならなかった。

We spent three hours waiting in the rain because of you!
お前のために雨の中３時間待ったんだぞ！

In written English, people often prefer to use the expressions due to something, owing to something, or as a result of something, which sound more formal than because of something: 

Many businesses fail due to cash-flow problems.

英文を書く場合"due to"や、"owing to"、あるいは"as a result of"のほうが好まれることが多い。"because of"よりフォーマルな響きがするからである。
（例）多くの会社がキャッシュフローで失敗している。

Due to is mostly used in formal or official contexts. In everyday English, people usually use because of:
We cancelled the picnic because of the weather.

意味は、"because of"と同じである。
"due to"は内容が用いられるのは、フォーマル、あるいはオフィシャルな場合がほとんどである。日常会話ではたいてい"because of"を使う。
(例）
天気が悪いから、ピクニックは中止だよ。

"owing to"

"because of"のフォーマルな言い方である。

というわけで、日常会話では、どんどん"because of"を使ってください。ライティングの場合は"due to"にしましょう。
