５月の時点では、例年通り盛大にイベントをやると言っていました。まさか７月に入ってもコロナの感染の心配をしなくてはならないとは思わなかったのでしょう。

６月に入っても、なかなか詳細情報が出ず、コロナが一向に収束しないので、花火は上がらないのかなと思っていました。

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The annual Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks display will go on in New York City, but there will be some changes due to the coronavirus pandemic.

恒例のメイシーズの７月４日の花火の打ち上げがニューヨーク市で行われます。しかし、コロナウィルスパンデミックのため、いくつか変更があります。

There will be a series of 5-minute shows in each of the five boroughs starting on Monday, June 29.
６月29日月曜日から５つの地区で、順に５分間ずつ打ち上げます。

However, the sites of those fireworks will not be announced beforehand in order to avoid crowds from gathering.

The smaller displays will then culminate with a grand finale on July 4, which will be televised.
