ブロンクスで13歳の少年が射殺される

A 13-year-old boy was fatally shot in the Bronx Sunday afternoon, police sources told The Post.

13歳の少年が日曜日午後、ブロンクス区で射殺された。警察筋がポスト紙に話す。

The male gunman got out of a car outside 743 East 187th Street at around 3:15 p.m. and opened fire — striking the teen once in the chest and once in the ankle, sources said.

午後３時15分ごろ187丁目東743番の外で車から男性が銃を持って出てきた。そして発砲。その弾は十代の子供に当たり、一発が胸に、それからもう一発が足首に当たったと、警察筋が述べた。

The shooter then got back in the vehicle and fled.

それから撃った男は車で逃げ去った。

The boy was taken to Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, sources said.

情報筋によると、撃たれた少年はバーナバス病院へ運ばれたが、着いてすぐ死亡が確認された。

He would’ve turned 14 at the end of the month, sources added.

少年は今月末には14歳になるはずだったという。

A police source said that Elliot was a member of a gang and was the intended target in the shooting.

警察筋によると、エリオットはギャングのメンバーで、襲撃は彼を狙ったものだったという。

Sources said Elliot had six arrests and two sealed busts — including for assault, robbery, burglary and criminal mischief.

また、エリオットは暴力、強盗、窃盗、軽犯罪を含んで６回の逮捕と２回の非公開の摘発を受けていた。

Family friend Samantha Jake said that the economic toll of the pandemic has had a negative impact on the neighborhood’s youth.

家族の友達であるサマンサ・ジェイクはパンデミックによる経済の悪化が地域の若者に悪い影響を及ぼしていると言った。

“This needs to stop,” she said. “I know what it was like with the COVID pandemic. This is literally a pandemic right now — kids killing kids.”

Jake said she saw the victim on the floor of a cafe after he was shot and that she visited the distraught mother after her son’s death.

“He was a beautiful kid,” Jake said. “He was just a kid. He was an awesome kid, a lovable kid.”

Merrick Jones, who lives near the shooting, said Elliot was too young to be involved in violent street gangs.

“This kid should be studying for school or something and not coming outside to be shot,” Jones said. “He should be learning some schoolwork.”

Another local resident, who gave his name only as Angelo, said Elliot’s life was cut short way too soon.

“Obviously he was probably mixed in with the wrong crowd and paid for it too early,” he said.

“Sometimes I see people do a life of crime and come back and be productive members of society. This guy didn’t even get a chance.”

The shooter was described as wearing a burgundy hoodie, light-colored sweatpants and black sneakers.

撃った犯人はワインレッドのパーカーを着て薄い色のスウェットパンツに黒いスニーカーを履いていたということだった。

Police are investigating whether the slaying was connected to the fatal shooting last Wednesday of 19-year-old Tyquill Daugherty, the sources said.

警察はその殺害が先週の水曜日19歳のタイクィル・ドーティーの射殺事件と関係があるかどうか調べていると情報筋は言った。

The teen, an aspiring rapper who performed under the name Ty Swish, was fatally shot in the head outside his Bronx apartment, just a few blocks away from Elliot’s slay on Prospect Avenue.

その子はタイ・スウィッシュという名前で活動していたラッパー志望だった。ブロンクスのアパートの外で頭を撃たれたのだが、そこはプロスペクトアヴェニューのエリオットの殺害現場から数ブロックしか離れていない。

先日、America’sGot Talentというオーディション番組で、ゴールデンブザーを獲得したブロンクスのダンスグループ「ワッフルクルー」が、自分たちの地域の悲惨な状況をステージから訴えていました。そのグループの一員も撃たれて死亡したというのです。ブロンクスでは25歳まで生きられないと言っていたのが信じられませんでしたが、実際にこういう事件のことを知ると、改めて、ニューヨーク市の抱えている問題の大きさに驚きます。
