NEW YORK STATE — With Andrew Cuomo announcing his resignation Tuesday, Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Hochul will take over the leadership of the state as New York's 57th governor.

Hochul, who was elected as lieutenant governor alongside Cuomo in 2014 and 2018, will serve as the state's first female leader.

2. She has lots of legislative experience.

Hochul's political career began in 1994 when she was elected onto the Town Board of the Town of Hamburg. She held that position until 2007, when she was appointed Erie County Clerk by then-Gov. Elliot Spitzer. She ran for the position later that year and won.

Hochul was born and raised in Buffalo, and attended college at Syracuse University. She graduated from Syracuse in 1980 and received her law degree from the Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. in 1984. She worked at a law firm in Washington for a short while after her graduation, and then moved back to New York.

べた褒めですね。みんな身のかわしが早いですね。。。アメリカの政界はトップが代わると、周りの人事もすべて変わります。皆なんとかいいポジションに登用してもらおうと必死に彼女の支持をアピールしているのでは？と思う程です。

ニューヨークでは国民が「この人ではだめだ」と思ったら、「過去の功績」や「他にいい人がいない」という理由で続投とはなりません。ニューヨークのカランザ教育局長は、学校でコロナ感染が出たということで、即涙の辞任となりました。クオモ氏は介護施設での死者数を少なく発表したという疑いだけで、辞任を求められていました。セクハラ疑惑で、否定するものの結局辞任。日本で、もし首相がラムダ株の日本上陸を知っていて隠していたとなれば、ニューヨークなら即辞任です。(T-T)
