"immersion"(イマージョン）とか、"immersive"（イマーシブ）という言葉を聞いたことがありますか？最近、テレビの報道番組で「没入型」という日本語を使っていたので、今後は「没入型の」とか、「イマーシブな」という表現で定着してくるかもしれません。如何にも自分がその世界に入ったような感覚になる体験、またそういう体験をさせるという意味です。

英語教育では、レッスンを英語のみで行う"immersion English learning"とか、"English immersion programs"を推奨しているメソッドがあり、人によっては効果的な場合があります。

教育においてばかりでなく博物館においても、"interactive"（双方向）であることはすでに新しいものではなく、今後は、"immersive"（没入的な）体験ができるかどうかが、人気を呼ぶキーワードになると思います。「没入型」という表現に落ち着くかどうかは分かりませんが、従来の「体験型」と区別する必要はあるでしょう。

アメリカ自然史博物館(AMNH)に新しくオープンした、
"Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation"(科学、教育、革新のギルダー・センター）は、連日入館に列ができています。

The new Gilder Center features new exhibition galleries and one-of-a-kind experiences, including an insectarium, butterfly vivarium, floor-to-ceiling collections displays, and more—and connects to the rest of the American Museum of Natural History on four floors.

ギルダー・センターは、昆虫館、蝶の生体展示、床から天井まで広がるコレクション展示など、新しい展示室や他ではできない体験が特徴で、4つの階でアメリカ自然史博物館とつながっています。

Entry to the Gilder Center is included with Museum admission. Additional tickets are required for the Davis Family Butterfly Vivarium and the Invisible Worlds immersive experience.

ギルダー・センターへの入場料は自然史博物館の入館料に含まれています。デイビス・ファミリー・バタフライ・ビバリウムとインビジブル・ワールドの没入体験には、別途チケットが必要です。

Get a close look at major insect orders, with exhibits dedicated to beetles, true bugs, stick insects and leaf insects, moths and butterflies, and crickets, grasshoppers, and katydids.

甲虫、半翅類（はんしるい---口は管状で、動植物の汁を吸う種類の虫）、ナナフシ、コノハ虫、蛾、蝶、コオロギ、バッタ、キリギリスなど、昆虫の主要な目を間近で見ることができます。

You'll also use tools of scientific visualization to discover insects' great variety in body shape, amazing forms of camouflage, and more.

And don't miss one of the world's largest displays of live leafcutter ants, featuring a foraging area, transparent skybridge, and a fungus garden where you can observe how this colony of ants works together as a "superorganism."

Explore a large digital interactive that introduces you to the insects of New York City–and discover the roles insects play in ecosystems in each of the five boroughs.

ニューヨークの昆虫を紹介している大型のデジタル・インタラクティブをいろいろ見て、（ニューヨーク市の）5つの行政区それぞれの生態系における昆虫の役割を発見してください。

Then, compose your own insect chorus in a sound gallery of Central Park grasshoppers, beetles, katydids, and others to experience the variety of "music" produced by insects in the Museum's backyard.

その後、サウンドギャラリーでセントラルパークのバッタ、カブトムシ、キリギリスなどの自分だけの昆虫コーラスを作り、博物館の裏庭で昆虫が作り出すさまざまな「音楽」を体験してください。
