テレビでは盛んに投票に行くことを促しています。
そんな中、Time Outがマンハッタンにある「子供博物館」で「投票権」について展示されていることを教えてくれました。子供博物館ですから、どんな書き方で「投票する権利」というものを教えているのか知りたくて、読むことにしました。

Children's Museum of Manhattan unveils “Right to Vote” ahead of Election Day

NYC kids have a few years to go before they can cast a ballot for a presidential nominee. But that doesn't mean they can't be involved in the political process on some level.

ニューヨーク市の子供たちが大統領候補者に投票できるようになるまでには数年ありますが、だからといって政治的なプロセスに全くかかわることができないというこではありません。

On Oct 28, the Children's Museum of Manhattan unveiled its new “Right to Vote” exhibit (ages 2 and up), which commemorates the centennial of women’s suffrage and, of course, the 2020 election. It intends to emphasizes the importance of working for the greater good, listening to others' opinions and thoughtful decision making—great lessons for the little ones and helpful reminders for the adults among us.

10月28日、マンハッタンの子供博物館は、新しく「投票権」についての展示を始めました。（２歳以上対象）女性選挙権誕生の100年祭やもちろん2020年の選挙についても入っています。その意図は、大義のために働き、他の人の意見に耳を傾け、よく考え抜かれた決定をすることの重要性を強調することです。子供たちにとって、素晴らしい学習になりますし、おとなにとっても改めて認識を深める機会になるでしょう。

Upon visiting the installation, little politicians in the making will cast a vote to a subject near and dear to their heart—free school meals, clean water or more park spaces. After testing out what voting feels like, kids step into the role of commander in chief in the mini Oval Office, where they can take calls and make deals. Subsequently, they'll learn about important figures in the women's suffrage movement and use the pioneers' example to create artwork to represent what's important to them. (Think DIY posters, ballots, etc.)

未来に政治家になるかもしれない子供たちは、展示室を訪れたらすぐ、自分に身近で大切な対象に投票します。選ぶのはは無料の給食？きれいな水？もっと多い公園？子供たちは投票するってどんなものなのかを体験して、ミニ大統領執務室の司令官としての役割に踏み込んでいきます。そこで彼らは電話を受けたり、問題解決したりすることができるのです。さらに、女性参政権運動の重要な人物について学び、その草分け的存在を例にして、自分にとって大切なことが伝わるような（選挙に必要な）アートの作成をします。（手作りのポスターや、投票用紙などの作成を考えてください。）

This isn't the only family attraction that is shedding a light on the 2020 race: The NYPL has released an Election Reading List for kids, teens and adults, which highlight important voter issues such as climate change, foreign policy and healthcare, among others. Even if your little ones have a ways to go before they turn 18, they can get a jumpstart on our nation's governmental issues.

2020年の選挙戦に光を当てる家族みんなのアトラクションであるばかりではありません。ニューヨーク市公共図書館は子供、青少年、成人それぞれに向けて「エレクション・リーディング・リスト（選挙関係の書物のリスト）」を出しました。これは気候変動や外交政策、ヘルスケアなどのような選挙の重要な論点にスポットをあてるものです。たとえお子様たちが18歳になるまでの道のりは長くても、我々の国の行政に関する問題に早いうちから触れることができます。
