無料の食事を全ての人に!

このポスターはニューヨーク市の教育局が出したものです。政府は無料の食糧配布政策で、学校が閉鎖になった日から、持ち帰りの形で子供たちに朝食と昼食を提供してきました。（必要がある子供たちには夕方の提供もあります。）
それを必要とする大人まで広げたわけです。

The New York City Department of Education is committed to making three free meals available daily for any New Yorker. Any New Yorker who wants one can get three free meals a day at more than 400 Meal Hubs across the city.
ニューヨーク市教育局は、どのニューヨーカーも無料の食事を3回毎日利用できるよう頑張っています。無料の食事を必要としているどのニューヨーカーも一日3回の食事を市全体にある400か所の拠点で受け取れます。

・Meals can be picked up at all Meal Hubs 7:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday
・Meals Hubs will operate for children and families from 7:30 am to 11:30 am, and for adults from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm
・No one will be turned away at any time
・All adults and children can pick up three meals at one time
・Vegetarian and halal options available at all sites
・No dining space is available, so meals must be eaten off premises
・Parents and guardians may pick up meals for their children
・No registration or ID required
・月曜日から金曜日まで、すべての拠点で午前７時半から午後１時半までお受け取りになれます
・子供たちとその家族には、午前７時半から午前11時半まで、その他の大人には、午前11時半から午後１時半までとなっています。
・該当の時間が違ってもお断りすることはありません。
・１日にお渡しできるのは、大人、子供共３食です。
・どこの場所でもベジタリアン、ハラル向きの対応をしています。
・お渡しする場所には、食べるところはないので、お持ち帰りをお願いします。
・子供の代わりにご両親や保護者の方もお受け取りになれます。
・登録も身分証明書もいりません。

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Thursday that the city will be providing free meals to anyone who needs food.
ニューヨーク市長のビル・デ・ブラジオは、木曜日必要とする市民全てに無料で食事を提供することを発表した。

The new initiative will begin Friday, and will be available to anyone who needs food including children and adults.
この新しい試みは金曜日から始まり、子供、大人を含む、食事を必要としている人は、だれでも食事を受け取ることができる。

The city has 435 sites spread out around the five boroughs where people can get breakfast, lunch and dinner all to go, free of charge.
市は５つの行政区の435の拠点を用意しており、そこで無料で朝食、昼食、夕食を持ち帰ることができる。

Previously, the city only had the feeding sites open to students and families of students, but now they will be available to everyone.
これまで、市は子供たちとその家族に限って配布していたが、これからはすべての人が利用することができるようになる。

Children and families with children can pick up food between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. while adults with no kids can pick up food until 1:30 p.m. each day.

ニューヨークには多くのホームレスがいます。失業して困っている人も、ホームレスも、区別することなく、IDなしで配布することを知って、ニューヨーク公共図書館が、戦時中、同じように登録もIDも必要なく、誰にでも本を貸し出していたことを思い出しました。

デブラジオ市長が実際に述べた言葉は、本文にある"anyone who needs food"（食べ物が必要な人には誰にでも）ではなくて、

 "everyone who is hungry has a place to go for food"
「お腹がすいている人誰にでも食べ物が手に入る場所があるんだ」

でした。この"who is hungry"が響きました。
役所言葉でなくて、自分の言葉で伝えるということには力強さとあたたかさを感じます。
