Before Jose Flores, 65, emerged from a Coney Island subway station, there was one more thing he wanted to do: Get vaccinated.
New York is offering Covid vaccinations at select subway stations. I went out to see how the new program was going. 

ホセ・フローレス（65歳）がコニーアイランド駅から出る前にもう一つしたいことがあった。それはワクチン接種だ。
ニューヨークは、特別な駅でワクチン接種を提供している。その新しいプログラムはどう進んでいるのかを見に行った。

I also met Lisa Faro, 30. She read a paperback novel as she waited after her shot for a reaction.
She had not been eager to get vaccinated, but when she heard about the subway program she figured she’d “get it over with.”

リサ・ファロー（30歳）にもあった。接種を受けた後、少し待って反応を見るためにペーパーバックを読んでいた。
彼女は接種を受けたいとは思っていなかったのだが、地下鉄で受けられると聞いて、「そこですませちゃおう。」と思ったのだ。

By mid-morning, the station across from Nathan’s Famous, of hot dog fame, was mostly empty.
Faro was one of four people waiting after receiving the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which was being administered near the station entrance.

午前中半ば、ホットドッグで有名なネイサンズフェイマスの前にある駅はほとんど誰もいなかった。
ファローは１回の接種で済むジョンソン＆ジョンソンのワクチンを受けてから休んでいる４人のうちの一人だった。この接種は駅入り口近くで行われていた。

Nearly 60 percent of adults in New York City have received at least one vaccine dose, but the pace of vaccinations is slowing. The governor’s office started the subway program to boost the city’s vaccination rate. Right now, six stations in New York City, including Grand Central, are part of the program.

ニューヨークシティでは約６割の成人が少なくとも１回の接種を終えているが、ワクチン接種のスピードは落ちている。州では市のワクチンの接種率を上げるために地下鉄プログラムを始めた。現在ニューヨークシティの６つの駅で行われていて、その中にはグランドセントラル駅が含まれている。

To entice people, those getting vaccinated also get a free seven-day MetroCard.
Over the first five days, the subway program led to about 5,700 vaccinations — a good showing, but hardly a game changer.

モチベーションをあげるために（地下鉄プログラムで）接種を受けた人全員にも７日間有効のメトロカードが与えられる。最初の５日までに、この地下鉄プログラムで5,700の接種が行われた。いい数字だが事態を大きく変える数字としてはまだまだだ。

At the Jamaica-179th Street Station in Queens, the nurses administering the vaccines began wrapping up at 1 p.m.
“I got two extra Covid shots,” Dolfina Arloro, a pharmacist, called out to a trickle of people coming through the turnstiles. “Anyone want a Covid vaccine?”
There were no takers, but already 300 people had been vaccinated at that station that day.
The program is continuing through Saturday.

クィーンズのジャマイカ179丁目駅では、午後１時に接種を行っていた看護師さんたちが切り上げようとしていた。
薬剤師のドルフィナ・アルローロは改札の回転バーを通ってポツポツ来る人に声をかけていた。「あと２回分接種できますよ。どなたか打ちたい人はいませんか？」
反応はなかったが、すでに300人がその日、駅でワクチン接種を受けた。
そのプログラムは土曜日まで続けられる。

「ワクチン、どうですか～！あと２名様～！」なんていう呼び声は、日本で聞かれる日がくるかしら？こないですね。。。( ´艸｀)
