9歳向けの子供のおもちゃ

By age 9, many kids are ready to take on more-grown-up roles and responsibilities. Previously, they may have pretended to cook a meal in a toy kitchen, but kids this age may have the coordination and cognitive ability to follow a recipe and prepare a real home-cooked meal.

9歳になると、多くの子どもたちは年長の役割や責任を担えるようになります。以前は、おもちゃのキッチンで料理作りごっこをしていたかもしれませんが、この年齢の子どもたちは、レシピに従って本物の家庭料理を作ることができる協調性と認知能力を備えています。

When it comes to gift giving, you might consider presenting them with adult tools. When kids have their own set of tools, this can foster a desire to create and innovate, said Hilary Conklin, a professor at DePaul University’s College of Education.

Plus, real tools will last longer than their toy counterparts, accompanying kids into high school—and perhaps beyond. Take it a step further by signing kids up for classes, purchasing companion books, or personally helping them learn the basic skills needed to become more proficient and independent in their hobbies.

“They feel so empowered to be able to do something that’s more adult,” Conklin said. Most 9-year-olds are also deepening their friendships and spending more time socializing with other kids, so sports equipment and games that encourage group fun are also good choices.

At age 10, kids have hit a double-digit milestone, with their teen years just around the corner. Kids in this age group are growing into themselves and refining their interests. So giving a gift to a 10-year-old can be an opportunity to deepen those passions while also encouraging exploration.

Now that they’re learning abstract thinking and reasoning skills, they’re also ready for board games that are more sophisticated not only in tone and subject matter but also in style of play (involving strategic decisions and longer playing sessions). Many 10-year-olds can also tackle complicated projects independently and are able to focus, see them through, and figure out any mistakes on their own.

Keep in mind, too, that as kids get older, imagination “is something that gets neglected,” said Lisa Regalla, head of onsite and digital experiences at the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito, California, at the time of our interview.
